Lip-smacking Italian @ Delhi’s Spaghetti Kitchen
On the third floor of the swanky Select Citywalk mall in Saket, is a gem of a restaurant titled Marchetti’s Spaghetti Kitchen. And aptly so, as lovers of this slurpy pasta will tell you. This restaurant is truly dedicated to those with a fetish for spaghetti. But there is more than just spaghetti that comes out of this kitchen!
Packed and spacious:
The ambience is nothing to write home about. But Spaghetti Kitchen is a fine dining restaurant and looks like one -- muted colours, not over bright, soft music and non-noisy without being too quiet. The pastas are served in elegantly designed bowls and the pizzas come on wooden platters the Italian way. It also draws a fair share of expats from around South Delhi looking for a bite of authentic Italian food. It would be wise to make a reservation before you go since Spaghetti Kitchen, being housed in a mall, is always packed and the waiting period often gets tiresome.
Rosemary potatoes, thin crust pizzas and spaghetti:
There is more to Italian food than pasta or pizza and Spaghetti Kitchen shows you just how much. The menu is expansive and the dishes can be customised as per your liking and made non-spicy or spicy. Right from the Antipasti—vegetarian and non-vegetarian including bruschetta, to the zuppe (soups) and entrees, you will enjoy every morsel. Spaghetti Kitchen offers one a choice of self-serving from a Cold Cuts Salumeri. Do try the tossed potatoes in rosemary and olive oil generously sprinkled with chilly flakes as an appetiser. If you love pasta, a must try is the Penne or spaghetti in cheese sauce—very authentically done with the taste of real cheese in every mouthful and not just the cheap imitation with corn flour and cream! The Spaghetti Aglio Olio is another must try if you’re visiting Spaghetti Kitchen. And if you are in the mood for pizza, choose between the cracker style or thin crust and sample the pepperoni toppings on it. Desserts range from the good old sizzling brownie and tiramisu. Enjoy!
Because it is worth it:
Spaghetti Kitchen is a winner as far as the food is concerned and it also wows you with the costs. The portions aren’t miniscule - after all, we are eating a meal meant for robust Italians! The service is courteous but the waiters seem to hurry you up if there are waiting crowds!
